About

Hi! I’m Heather. Welcome to Girly Ever After!

I am a North Carolina girl living in Atlanta with my husband Travis, our cat Ella, and our dog Harper. I work full time and decided it was time for me to follow my dream of becoming an Esthetician (waxing, facials, makeup, etc), so I’m a part-time student too! I have so many things on my plate now that I wanted to share my experiences in life and how I am balancing instead of juggling.

My Healthy Living

I love food! I love to cook it, eat it, smell it, whatever I love it! When I started cooking more I became more aware of what I was buying and where my food was coming from. I always buy organic meats, eggs, and produce because I want my food free of hormones, pesticides, and antibiotics. I try to live as natural as possible, which doesn’t mean that I eat healthy all the time, it means I care about what happened to my food before it got to my plate. I love a good cheeseburger every now and then, but I want it made with local grass fed beef not beef that was pumped with hormones. This does not make me a food snob!

Being active is important to me. I run, walk, lift weights, go to yoga, workout to a Jillian video, something everyday. I vary my intensity depending on my mood, but I’m constantly doing something to keep me moving. I am not a member of a gym and haven’t been in over two years. I ran my first half-marathon on Thanksgiving Day 2010 and I hope to run more!

Balance

I live a balanced life as much as possible. I don’t believe in going to one extreme and being genuinely happy. Even though I workout and eat right, that doesn’t mean that I don’t like to have a greasy meal with a super sweet dessert afterwards on a day that I only walked the dog up the street. I do.  And the next day I’ll up my workout and eat better. In my opinion if you don’t you are missing out! Life is about balance.

When I decided to go back to school it was a big deal. I’ve had this dream of being in skin care all my life and with the amazing support of my husband, family, and friends it’s finally happening. I got my Bachelor’s in Broadcast media and have worked at TV and Radio Rep firms, but my true passion is in a beauty field. Going back to school is going to be hectic but it’s all in the balance.

You’re super cute and we have a lot in common (other than the fact that I’m done with school and you’re a Braves fan(!)). Glad I found your blog =)
